CAREER
Followed the best year of my life career-wise and financially with a pretty good year. Got to work on a variety of shows for a variety of networks, all of which I’m very proud… This year I finished up Gypsy Sisters for TLC, then Gigolos season 4 for Showtime, and Catfish: The TV Show season 2 for MTV, and finally back to Gigolos to crush season 5, making it the longest running show my company has created and a great personal success as well. By the time I am done with my three episodes this season, I will have cut 15 episodes of Gigolos and had broadcast credit as editor on 50 episodes of television!
I did take some time off during the year to work on my first feature as editor, a documentary called "The Vagine Regime: Queer Roller Derby." It's still shooting through March and has a lot of work left to do, but I've had a great time working on it and I think it's really something special. In the meantime, the low-budget horror movie I PA'd on last year was screened and I fulfilled a childhood dream of seeing my name on the big screen.
I maxed out my Roth IRA again, even though I barely made any money on it this year. And I hope to do the same next year.
I voted on the Emmy awards again this year, though I was too busy to vote in as many categories as I wanted to.
PERSONAL
Still living with Chelsea, we’ve been together for 52 months now and our nub continues to grow. I still love her and our life together will all my heart!
For the first time ever, I had a piece in a real art show--twice! And both of them sold for great causes.
I went to 13 concerts, including Jazz Fest in New Orleans, Electric 6, Charles Bradley, Cindy Lauper at the Greek, and Wayne Shorter with Esperanza Spalding and the LA Phil! I met Weird Al for the second time, as well as meeting Jon Voight, Eric McCormick (who bought a painting from me), Lori Petty, Lloyd Kaufman, Pete & Pete, Paul Scheer, Tony Todd, John Romita Jr, Whilce Portacio, Jane Espenson, and many more.
I've been running again and I'm getting ready to do another marathon in 2014, though I haven't decided which. In the meantime, I came in 3rd place in my division at a local 5k, and 10th place overall, both firsts for me. I ran a 6:27 mile, my fastest ever.
A lot of great trips this year, we spent Memorial Day in Savannah for 10 year college get-together and we took over an awesome house downtown. Of course we did Jazz Fest in New Orleans, which was a TOTAL BLAST! We went to Atlanta and Seattle to see family, also San Francisco for a wedding. Chelsea and I had a wonderful fourth anniversary in Napa Valley. We ate at two of the top ten most expensive restaurants in America, and they were meals I will always remember.
JAN 1, 2013 WEIGHT: 180
JAN 1, 2014 WEIGHT: 190
I still think I could be a solid 170 or so someday, if I was real lean. I need to try harder to work in cross training and not eat so much shit.
